Oooo, an earthquake!

So as the rainy season has crept up on us, we are finding ourselves in the middle of some pretty big storms lately. Vendors dash quickly to cover their goods. Tourists pack up their beach gear and head for the bus stop. Today as the rains came, I caught a ride up the hill with some friends and settled in for the evening. While calling my mama to wish her a Happy Birthday, I noticed a lot of lightening and thunder in the distance. By the time we were done talking, the lightening was awesome and I grabbed my camera and headed for higher ground to take a few shots. Not nearly as idiotic as that might sound. After I came back down from the other house where I was taking the pictures, I began loading them onto my computer. Suddenly I felt the ground shake and my chair sway with the house. WOAH! Not big news for some people, but that was the first big earthquake I have ever been in. It was nothing too big, but enough to make me appreciate why something larger could be terrifying. We have a lot of earthquakes here, but none that I have felt quite so vividly. I was able to take a few shots of the lightening, nothing too impressive at first glance, wish I had my tripod here, but pretty cool since the lightening lights up the sky. It is pitch black here without the lightening, and yet these pictures look as though they could have been taken at dusk. Enjoy.
